With Terra Madre, Slow Food helps communities work towards self-sufficiency, increased food security, and strengthened local economies. Terra Madre’s worldwide network is constantly growing and consolidating, giving social and economic support to small producers whose work respects the earth and human beings. Terra Madre is also seeking to bring producers and consumers together in order to boost local economies where food plays a central role. To achieve these goals, the network is making efforts to create food communities involving farmers, fishermen, producers, consumers, chefs, cooks and centers of academic knowledge. By forming links and working together they can develop projects ranging from consumer education and the defense of biodiversity to promoting short food supply chains. Help them!
